Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and K-Wave for using Hanal. We have tried to keep them short and clear. Please read them, especially the sections on purchases and refunds.

1. About these terms

Hanal (한알) is operated by K-Wave (케이 웨이브), a sole proprietorship registered in the Republic of Korea (“K-Wave”, “we”, “us”). These terms apply to hanalkorean.com, app.hanalkorean.com, and all Hanal courses and features (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.

2. Who can use Hanal

You must be at least 14 years old to create an account. If you are under the age of majority where you live, please use Hanal with the permission of a parent or guardian, who must agree to these terms for you before any purchase.

3. Your account

• You sign in with a one-time link sent to your email or with Google. Keep access to your email account secure, because anyone who can read your email can sign in to Hanal.
• One account is for one person. Please do not share your account or let others learn on it.
• Your nickname must not be offensive, hateful, or misleading, and must not pretend to be Hanal, HANA, K-Wave, or another person. We may change or remove a nickname that breaks these rules.

4. What we offer

• Hangul Reading & Writing (한알 읽고쓰기): a 14-day course for reading and writing Hangul. Day 1 and Day 2 are free. Day 3 to Day 14 require a one-time purchase, which gives you access to the full course for 12 months from the date of purchase. Worksheets and certificates you download are yours to keep. New days open one at a time, at local midnight after you finish the previous day.
• Other products, such as Two Sentences a Day, may be available as subscriptions or separate purchases. What each product includes, its price, and who can buy it are shown before you pay.

“14 days” describes how the course is structured. How quickly you learn depends on you and your practice, and we cannot guarantee a particular result.

We keep improving Hanal. We may update lessons, audio, and features. We will not remove the core content of a course you have paid for while we continue to offer that course.

5. Purchases and payment

Our online orders are processed by Lemon Squeezy, which is our reseller and merchant of record for all orders. Lemon Squeezy handles checkout, payment, sales tax or VAT, invoices, and refunds, and its buyer terms also apply to your purchase.

• Prices are in US dollars. Taxes may be added at checkout depending on where you live.
• A one-time purchase is not a subscription. You pay once and are not charged again. Access lasts 12 months from the date of purchase.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. Any free period is shown at checkout.
• Your purchase is linked to your Hanal account. Please buy with the same email address you use to sign in, or contact us so we can link it.

6. Refunds

• Refunds are paid by Lemon Squeezy to your original payment method. How long it takes to appear depends on your bank or card provider.
• When a purchase is refunded, access to the paid content ends.
• For subscriptions, the 7-day guarantee applies to your first payment. Later renewals can be cancelled at any time to stop the next charge.
• Nothing in this section limits any refund rights you have under the law of your country.

7. Right of withdrawal (EU and UK)

If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase. Hanal is digital content that you can use as soon as you pay. At checkout, you will be asked to agree that your access starts immediately and that you therefore lose this statutory right of withdrawal once access begins. Our 7-day money-back guarantee in section 6 still applies to you.

8. Using Hanal fairly

Hanal’s lessons, text, audio (including HANA’s voice), illustrations, songs, worksheets, and software belong to K-Wave or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use them for your own learning.

You may print the worksheets for your own practice. You may not:

• copy, share, resell, or publish our lessons, recordings, songs, or worksheets;
• share your account or access with other people;
• download or collect content from the Service with automated tools;
• try to get around payment, day locks, or security measures;
• use the Service to harass others or to break the law.

Sharing a name card you made at hanalkorean.com/name, or a certificate you earned, is welcome.

9. Ending your account

You can stop using Hanal and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. Where possible, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem. If we close the Service or a paid course entirely, we will tell you in advance.

10. Disclaimers

We work hard to keep Hanal accurate and available, but the Service is provided “as is”. It may sometimes be unavailable, for example during maintenance. Pronunciation guides, romanization, and name cards are learning aids and approximations. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer under the law of your country that cannot be waived by contract.

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, K-Wave is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. This does not limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot legally be limited.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Hanal grows. If a change is significant, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. If you do not agree with the new terms, you can stop using Hanal. Changes do not apply to purchases you made before them.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of mandatory laws in the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in the courts where you live. If you have a problem, please email us first. Most issues can be solved quickly.
